The Clear Creek players, several of whom dressed in off-the-wall outfits in honor of the rivalry during classes Tuesday, riled themselves up but never got the challenge they said they expected. Senior right side Danielle Reed, who had seven kills and two block assists, said she realized things weren't normal for the typically heated rivalry near the end of the first game.

It didn't matter who was setting, as the Wildcats (16-9, 2-0 district) attacked from all angles. Whether it was Jenna Rissky (18 assists), Kaley Medsger (11 assists) or Becky Bekelja (seven assists), the Clear Creek swingers usually scored with authority.

Senior middle blocker Sommer Ivory sparked the initial 8-2 lead with two kills, one block solo and one service ace. Reed registered three kills in the first six points of game two — all won by Clear Creek. Ivory's ace and one of Reed's kills both forced Clear Lake to call timeout, but the Falcons never found an answer.

Ivory finished with eight kills, six digs and four total blocks, while Elissa Loynes led the team with nine kills. Defensive specialist Haley Jacob had a team-high 11 digs, while Rissky added five digs to her 18 assists.

The Wildcats defeated Clear Lake in two games at a tournament during the weekend, but coach Scott Simonds said he still expected Tuesday's match to be more two-sided.
