An Allentown man was charged this morning with criminal homicide in the February death of his 76-year-old mother. 55-year-old David Dettra was arrested by Allentown police today. Police said Marie Dettra was living in unsanitary conditions, adding that David Dettra lived with his mother but had not seen her move for two or three weeks before her death. Marie Dettra was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Coopersburg issued a cease-and-desist order aimed at ending Saturday night swingers parties at a borough strip club. Club Kama Sutra held its first party at Silouhette Showbar last week and had another scheduled for tomorrow night. But the borough said the parties violate local law because the bar was converting itself into a members-only club for the parties and the club is not located in a zone where such a use is permitted.

Shots were fired this morning and police told the owner of a golf course near the New York-Pennsylvania state line they are searching for fugitive Ralph “Bucky” Phillips He's wanted in the fatal shooting of a New York state trooper.

Hazleton city council plans a special meeting this afternoon to vote on a revised version of an ordinance designed to crack down on illegial immigrants. Hazelton agreed last week not to enforce the measure that thrust the coal-region city into the national spotlight.
