Swingers
Lawyers, sex, and good old-fashioned blackmail. That's the case the district attorney's office ... I-Team: Lawyers' blackma
It calls itself the world's largest sex and swinger personals site, an Internet site set up for adults looking for sexual liaisons who will do just about anything you choose.
"It's a swingers' Web site, and so it was this computer dating cruising the Internet, and these men fell into the trap," said Cliff Herberg, Bexar County first assistant criminal district attorney.
The DA's office says it was a trap set by Mary Roberts and her husband, Ted. Together they were a team of civil attorneys, but when they were apart, authorities say Mary would cruise the Internet for men.
According to the men, those liaisons, at least four in all, started at various restaurants in San Antonio. But they say the majority of the sexual liaisons were at the Driskill Hotel in Austin. When the liaisons ended, the men say that's when Ted would come in.
"Her husband would come around a dew days later and say, 'Hi, you had a sexual relationship with my wife and by the way you're married, and so I'm going to have to reveal this to your wife or your employer if we're not able to reach some sort of financial arrangement,' " Herberg said.
"He would slide a piece of paper across there and say, 'I'm going to have to sue you for damaging my marriage relationship unless you pay me a large sum of money,' " Herberg said.
And when you consider the two people accused of the crime are lawyers themselves, the DA's office says it makes this case all the more disturbing.
